asked a question Why does my dog have bloody diarrhea and is vomiting so much!?

My Jack Russell had bloody diarrhea for about 4 days roughly ending 3 days ago... Now she's having bloody diarrhea again and is throwing up like CRAZY, and is drinking lots of water, and is throwing that up (clear) too... I haven't taken her to the vet because she always gets sick, but this isn't normal... What could this be?? Could it be life-threatening?? It is 2am on a Sunday morning, so no vet would be open. What should I do??

answered a question Why does my dog pee while walking?

If your dog is an excited pee-er, they they'll pee when they're walking if they're excited. However, if your dog seems to not appear excited and simply can't control his or her bladder, it is very possible they could have a urinary tract infection. That would more than likely be the first sign. If you start to see blood in their urine, then they definitely have a UTI (urinary tract infection). Take them to the vet immediately.

answered a question Why isn't my dog eating?

If you're around your dog a lot of the time and notice that they aren't eating like they should, they could have some type of worm in their system, or could have some other type of infection. Keep an eye on their stool or vomit - you may be able to see if they have worms that way, but not always. If the desire to eat is persistently absent, take your furry friend to the vet immediately.

answered a question Why won't my dog stop licking me?

Licking is most likely his or her way of showing affection. It can be a learned behavior, but if they lick you, they love you!

If you are wanting to figure out a way to reduce the licking, you can train them to not do it as much.

answered a question Am I allergic to my dog?

If your dog scratched or lightly bit you where you later developed a rash, you may very well be allergic. I would get tested by a professional ENT (ear, nose, and throat doctor). If you constantly find yourself sneezing, itching, hard to swallow, or have the sniffles when you're around the dog, for example, you could definitely could be allergic.

If you ARE allergic, there are things you can do without having to get rid of your dog:

-if your dog sheds, get a furmenator and come your dog daily or every other day -get an air purifier - YOU WON'T regret it!! Best purchase I have ever made -Sleep with the air purifier as well -vacuum daily -and go to an ENT specialist so that you could possibly get a serum - this basically is like a flu shot; it helps your body build a tolerance to the pet dander, and eventually, you won't be as allergic

I hope this helps!

answered a question What can I put on my dog for dry skin?

If your dog's skin is too dry, you could be bathing him or her too often. Frequent bathing removes the dog's protective natural oils that acts as a moisturizer. I would try bathing them less, as well as give them a flaxseed oil or fish oil capsule that would help with the dryness.

Dry skin can also be caused by: -no humidity in the air -their diet -the type of shampoo you use

You could also try feeding them moist food, ask your dog groomer to not have the hair dryer so high, and when using shampoo, use the kind that has humectants in it (or a moisturizer of some sort), and if you can, avoid using blow dryers all together as well.

answered a question Why does my dog stink after a bath?

It could be multiple things:

-Your dog's food or diet -Your dog not getting enough exercise -Leaving your dog outside for long periods of time -Not cleaning your dog's bedding -Your dog rolling in something

Your dog could also have medical issues that cause the odor, like:

-An ear infection -A skin disease -An anal gland disease -A dental disease -A Urinary tract infection or disease

Try smelling the areas of the body (ears, skin, rear, mouth, etc.) to see where the scent is mostly coming from. I would change their diet and give them fish oil to help their coat. If that doesn't help, I would then take them to the vet to seek professional help.

answered a question Can I give my dog benadryl for anxiety?

I would say that you could give your dog some Benadryl he or she has pretty bad anxiety (not too much though). Benadryl will calm them down and make them probably want to take a nap at the most. However, I wouldn't resort to giving them Benadryl all the time. If your dog has anxiety all of the time, I would talk to your vet about getting them the appropriate anxiety medication that is right for them.

answered a question Why does my dog cough and gag all the time?

It could be a number of things, including bad allergies, or swallowing hair that gets stuck in the back of their throat.

answered a question Why does my dog always run away from me?

It is possible that your dog may be distrustful of humans. If your dog only runs away from you, however, your dog could just be distrustful of you. Try doing certain exercises to help your dog learn to trust you more to see if that helps.
