answered a question | How often should I groom my yorkie? My Yorkie girl has a beautiful coat. I bathe her as infrequently as possible. It's not good for her skin to wash away the oils in her skin that give her such a luxurious coat. I brush her, and comb her facial hair daily, as she gets eye boogies a lot. Her hair doesn't grow too fast, so I give her a facial trim about every 40 days, and she looks fabulous. I use a peppermint oil mixture to repel fleas, and just a little, it makes her smell minty fresh.! |

answered a question | How many picture would you recommend sending during a sit? Good question! If the Meet and Greet goes well, I ask them how many pictures that they would like to receive each day. I get many different answers from, "As many as I can get!" to: "None at all." I find that if I ask them up front, then I will know what they would like, and then I don't have to guess. I usually send about 6 a day, showing them eating, playing, or on a walk. I just boarded a beautiful Poodle mix, and she took great pictures, so I took a lot of them. When the owners returned, they told me that they were so happy to get all the pictures. Then there's the owner that asked me not to send photo's. She said that she didn't need them, she has full confidence that I take great care of her 2 girls. Every time they get close to my house the dogs start getting excited. So, I have found that asking each dog owner what they would like is the best strategy. |
answered a question | If I increase my rates will it affect currently schedules stays? Your Meet and Greet that you have scheduled may have already seen your rates. I would increase your rates, then at the meet and greet, let them know that you have raised your rates, offer them your old rate for their first stay, and then all your future bookings will reflect your new rates. You can do a custom quote when you book your meet and greet. Hope this helps! |

commented answer | Using puppy pads for dogs that are home alone all day? I had 2 puppies & worked 10 hr. days. They chewed up the pads too. I got bitter apple spray,& they never chewed them up again. I trained them to go on the pad when I was out, & go outside when I was home. Thank God I didn't have to leave them alone after 1 year, I became a stay home mom. |
commented question | Does anyone have 3 dogs? I have 3. I rescued them all with 1 month of each other when I lost my 1st love. I had 4 until I lost my little Yorkie, 3 is plenty. 2 boys, 1 girl. They all love each other, and welcome our visiting pups. When I am at capacity, I have 7 dogs in my house. Yikes. |
commented answer | How can i find out if customers that have used Rover.com before have dogs that have caused problems? I have one owner who asked me not to make his dog's photos public. When you send pics they automatically go on the dog's profile. You have to uncheck the box under the pictures to make them private. I find out most everything about the dog when I do the Meet n Greet. Rover has been very helpful. |
commented answer | Why does my dog want affection then run away? I adopted a rescue last year who was in a neglect/abuse situation. His old owner would kick his housemate and he would bite her, and was in fear of people. He loves belly rubs and love, but runs away from me too. I just accept that he has phobia, and shower him with "Good boy! & positive talk! |
commented answer | Can we deduct veterinary expenses for our own dogs as they need to be healthy in order to run our business? Landscaping is not an acceptable write-off, unless you can show that it is 100% for dog area upkeep. |
answered a question | Is cesar food good for my dog? Cesar's food is packaged with a foil top, that is sealed with chemical compounds that are like anti-freeze. Any dog food container that uses foil or plastic tops, in my opinion, is a health hazard, not to mention that the food itself is really not the best quality. |

answered a question | How do I archive a request when there is no archive icon below the booking box ? I just spoke with Mary from Rover about this issue. She told me that when a dog owner messages a sitter, the sitter's profile will stay in their pending request box until 48 hrs after the last day of the booking request. Why? Because if you decide to contact them again if your chosen sitter falls through, their info is readily available on your pending request box to contact them again if need be. So, they will stay on your pending request until 2 days after your requested booking date. I am a sitter, and I needed a sitter for my dogs, and these sitter request bookings were clogging up my page, and making it a bit hard for me to see my client's request for boarding. I went in and changed my booking date to today, and they will disappear from my pending request in 2 days from now. Hope this helps you. It was driving me nuts til I called and got this info. Thank you so much Mary!! |
