answered a question | How To Get My Dog To Stop Whining? I agree with above posts - making the kennel a happy place. It's hard for dogs when guests are over, as it's their territory and they like to know everyone who is coming in. Is she over-excitable with guests? It may help to even allow her to be introduces to guests if it's possible, then ONLY treat her in the kennel, or even give her meals in the kennel! |
answered a question | dog problem how do i cut her nails? Hi! My dog does best when I put him on his back in my lap (not sure how big your kiddo is - mine is 45lbs so it works for those medium sized guys too!) but if you don't want to take him to your vet or your groomer, you can discuss with your vet about anti anxiety meds until you can get him used to the experience. |
answered a question | How do I know if my dog is happy? You know your dog best! They all show it in different ways - tail wagging, running around, jumping up and down. My pup rubs his back on the ground and sneezes when he's happy, and will bring me his toys. You just have to watch for those signs! |
answered a question | Are real christmas trees safe for dogs? I wouldn't worry about it, might cause GI upset if he does actually eat it. |
answered a question | What's the best shampoo for dog allergies? Always speak with your Veterinarian, they have anti-itch, natural, and medicated shampoos for allergies. |
answered a question | My dog won't play with toys? Might just not be into them, you can try treats in the toys if he's food motivated, but you may just have to find other ways to keep him busy! |
answered a question | How much fish oil should I give my dog? It depends how much your dog weighs, and how much EPA is in the fish oil! |
answered a question | Why does my dog eat another dog's poop? Honestly, it's a lot of times a behavioral or habit thing. Your best bet is to just keep the poop cleaned up and not give them the opportunity. |
answered a question | How can I make my dog more comfortable in the car? You're doing a really good job of making it a happy place -maybe every now and then try putting him him it and not going anywhere, and just sit for a couple minutes. If it gets really bad, call your veterinarian and ask about some anti-anxiety medications! |
answered a question | What to do if I can feel stitches under my dogs skin that haven't dissolved? I highly doubt it's the stitches, and most likely just cartilage build-up from the surgery. I wouldn't be concerned! |
answered a question | What is the best dog shampoo? Anything easy on the skin really - I have an oatmeal and milk based formula. Baby shampoo works as well! |
answered a question | my dog ate chocolate, what should I do? Call your veterinarian immediately! If you are unable to get there, hydrogen peroxide can be used to get them to vomit, but that can be extremely harsh on their GI tract. Either way, get them to a vet! |
answered a question | How do I get a very exuberant dog to stop jumping on me when I come home? The best, most humane answer, is to completely ignore them. I know it's hard, but when you walk in the door just turn away, and don't acknowledge them. As soon as they are calm, you can acknowledge him and give him attention as long as he keeps all paws on the ground. |
answered a question | Keeping a full house calm? Keeping a full house calm, number one is most certainly A LOT of exercise, and enticing of the animals. One of the greatest issues can be food, so no matter how well the animals get along, I feed them in separate closed off rooms, to make it the idea they are safe, calm, and never have to fight for food. |
answered a question | What's your dog door recommendation? My dog door recommendation would be to only keep it open while you are home, as long as you have a strong fence. A lot of issues can arise while you're gone -people, fence issues, other animals, etc. |
answered a question | Why is my dog licking the floor? Minus the fact that you may have dropped something tasty - dogs can exhibit anxiety in these ways, including licking pillows/wall. You may be able to distract them with other things, such a a kong or frozen treat! |
