answered a question Why won't my dog eat?

How long has your dog not been eating for? Is it only under certain circumstances like when you aren't home? My dog used to not eat when I would leave, so I would have whoever watched her add something delicious to her food, such as pumpkin or canned food, and she couldn't resist! Maybe she just doesn't like the food you are feeding her? Have you tried different brands? If he/she hasn't eaten in a while and you are home, I would definitely call the vet.

answered a question Why does my dog eat bird poop?

It is said that dogs who eat other dogs (or cat, or bird) poop is lacking certain nutrients in their diet. I would check the brand of food you are using vs some other available options and see if maybe there is a better option for your pooch. If the problem persists, it's worth a call into your vet.

answered a question Why does my dog eat another dog's poop?

It is said that dogs often eat other dog's (or cats...) poop if they are lacking certain nutrients in their diet. I would check the brand of food you feed your dog against this list: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/best-do... and see if maybe there's a better brand available. If the problem persists, it's worth a call to the vet.

answered a question Why does my dog have bad gas?

What kind of dog food are you feeding him? Is it mostly natural and grain-free? Check this list to see how the food you use compares to other brands: http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/best-do...

If this problem has been persisting, I would call your vet and see what they recommend. If it was a once-in-a-while occurrence I would recommend giving your dog some pumpkin, which can help with tummy troubles. I usually freeze some in a Kong to make it enjoyable for the dog at the same time.

answered a question On leash aggression?

One tip I tell people with dogs who are either aggressive or just bark at other dogs/people while on leash is this: When you see a dog or person coming, at the moment your dog sees the other dog or person, treat your dog immediately. This will take practice, but make sure you do not treat your dog if they have already started barking or reacting to the other dog. The key is to have your dog see a dog/person and then look to you for a treat. Eventually they will associate the other dog/person with something positive (the treat). Hope this helps!

answered a question Why does my dog keep barking at me?

One of my dogs used to bark at me a lot when she was a puppy. It was called demand barking, because she was doing it to get my attention - usually because she wanted the food I was preparing (whether it was hers or not). To get the demand barking to stop, I wouldn't acknowledge it. Instead, I taught her to nudge my leg when she needs something.
