answered a question How do I set up a meet and great ?

Some helpful tips when meeting the sitter and helping you determine if they are a good fit. When the sitter arrives for the meet and greet see if they are active in getting to know the important details of your pet. They should be engaged in asking you questions like, does your dog have any allergies, does your pet have a favorite toy, etc. During the meet and greet see also how engaged the potential sitter is with interacting with your pet and how the pet responses to that engagement. Hope these tips help you find a sitter you feel is a great fit for your pet.

answered a question Can I be stressing my dog out?

Hello Adriane, one key question I would ask is how much time do you spend with her/walk her. Some dogs if they feel they aren't getting enough time with their owner playing/walking/cuddling may start feeling depressed and do things they didn't in the past. If you are able to when you are home take her out more, play with her more. If your work doesn't really give you that ability a professional dog walker can help fill in those extra walks/playtime when you aren't able to. I have had some pet owners try this and it has helped. Hope this suggestion helps.

answered a question Why does my dog sleep in and eat her poop?

Some dogs eat poop because of the protein they smell in it so to them they act like it is food to be eaten. The behavior issues could arise from mutiple factors however one could be not enough excerise. Try taking her out more to burn off extra energy for a walk/jog. This has helped for many past dogs I took care of that started showing behavior issues. I know certian pet stores sell calming sprays as well that can sometimes work. One more additional suggestion is when you are away from home leave the tv or radio on this can also help them keep mentally stimulated. Hope these help.

answered a question How do I search for a sitter by name?

One final option on top of the ones Walt provided is to use the search function if their is a certian area you know they work you can search by that area/zip code. Robert

answered a question Why does my dog lay on me?

One reason can be for warmth. They get that warmth from your body heat. This can also be true for cats as well.

answered a question Why is my dog eating grass?

Most dogs will eat grass because it help with their digestion and do it both when they have a upset stomach and not so it helps them with bowel movements.

answered a question New puppy tips on how to take care of her ?

Hello Dashia, here are a couple of helpful tips. To teach her what to nibble on and what not to, when she starts to nibble on something you don't want her to have a toy handy she likes to nibble on so she learns what to nibble on and what not to. This is especially helpful when you start taking her outside for walks so she doesn't nibble on dangerous things outside and instead nibbles/carries her favorite nibble toy. :) Also if she pees where you dont want her to when she comes out of her crate proactively take her to her pee pad so she learns where to do her business and when going outside if she tends to stop and pee on the floor carrying her outside and taking her to the appropriate spot to pee at will help reinforce where she is to do her business. If you aren't currently running into any off these issues please keep these tips in mind in case she happens to start doing them, the earlier they are taught the sooner she will always have good habits. Hope these help and congrats on the new puppy. :) Robert

answered a question When you do a meet and greet with a potential client for an overnight stay should they disclose to you if there are cameras in the house?

Hello Kerry, in all my cases the pet owner has mentioned it right at the meet and greet. If you ever run into a time where you want to know if they have one I agree with what lauren said of mentioning past clients had one and see if they mention they have one as well. Hope this helps and all the best with your business. :)

answered a question Are sittters and walkers required to fill out and send a Rover card?

Hello Darla, in general I would point towards doing it because it can help build longterm trust with a pet owner and adding it will help show that extra mile you have gone through to provide excellent care to their pet/pets. Hope this answer helps and all the best to you with your business. :)

commented answer Has anyone ever just placed a "notice" on a tree, (lol) or in a coffee shop?

Great idea the ad magnets, is there a website/store you used to make them and if so what is it please. I want to have some made as well.

answered a question What type of cover picture?

Hello Lisa, the key basics to use when uploading your picture are, make sure it is a clear image that has good lighting. Another is smile and show some teeth, people tend to be more receptive to a happy friendly image and will be more likely to reach out to you to take care of their pet. Hope these tips help. :)

answered a question Do you charge for a meet and greet? Or getting to know you visits?

Meet and greets are not something that is charged in this industry. If you do try to charge it could prevent you from working for a client since they may still even be deciding to hire you and want to see in person if you are a good fit to take care of their pet.

answered a question Why is my dog losing weight?

It could be a couple of things such as, change in environment, diet or loniness if they hardly ever spend time with the pet owner. Some pets need additional attention throughout the day and if they don't get it this can cause behavior issues.

answered a question Why does my old dog shake?

As a dog gets older, you may notice that they develops tremors in their legs. While a certain amount of age-induced shaking is to be expected, never simply assume that everything is proceeding normally. Shaking in senior dogs can also be a sign of pain, particularly joint pain and discomfort.

answered a question Why does my dog crawl on his belly?

The dog may be scooting on their stomach as a way of 'scratching an itch'. Another possible reason is fleas. They are notorious for hiding in the groin and armpit area of dogs and can cause a dog to behave oddly to find relief.

answered a question Has anyone ever just placed a "notice" on a tree, (lol) or in a coffee shop?

Hello James, a tree no just cause the law enforcement in my area can take that stuff seriously and consider it littering. Coffee shops and other businesses yes, especially if they have a community board it is a great way to drive up business. All the best and hope this helps.

answered a question Why does my dog bark at people and other dogs?

One reason is she may be acting in protective mode for her owner/you. Both giving a warning to stay away from you and your home. This can sometimes be resolved by slowly introducing her to other people and dogs. Maybe do a buddy walk with her and another pet owner with their dog. Hope this helps.

answered a question Have you been able to do this full time?

Hello Megan, I agree with the previous answer. It really did hit all the key points to really do this role full time you need to focus on a short distance area to you like that 3 mile radius. I only focus on that same radius which is a combination of many apartment buildings and homes. I actively market to people in that area and my current clients I provide them my business cards to share with neighbors who have pets. Doing this has been effective on currently building out a steady list of clients and being able to commit to this as my career. I wish you the best of luck and here is to much success to you.
