commented answer | How do I get more clientelle? Absolutely! Also, to add on to both of our answers, see if there is a local rescue group or animal shelter that will put your business card in their adoption packets. Quite a bit of my clients are involved I'm rescue in one form or another. |

answered a question | Houston area Rover sitters I'd be super interested! From what I understand, anyone can create a facebook group for it. You'd just have to decide if you want to make it private so only Rover sitters in Houston can see it, or public where anyone on facebook can see and join. Please let me know if you've made a group! |

answered a question | Socials meetups for dog sitters? There is a website called Meet Up While you probably wouldn't be able to find a group in your area for only sitters, I'm sure you could find a few animal friendly groups that have other sitters as members. Worse case, it just gives you an opportunity to get involved in your community, meet new people, and hand out lots of business cards! |
asked a question | Are any of you guys members of your local Chamber of Commerce? I have multiple friends that own their own small businesses (some are MLM, some are just "mom and pop shops"). A few of them are members of their local Chamber and said that it has really been beneficial to their business. Are any of you sitters members? Is it against Rover to become a member? I'm just leery to pay the $350 membership fee without any feedback from people in the same industry. |

commented question | How do I get more clientelle? Since your cards are currently being shipped, you could take that time to find pet friendly businesses in your area. Make friends with your local pet shops and vet offices. Ask if you can leave your cards there. I also hand out cards to everyone I see with a dog! If you have your own pups, walk them around your neighborhood and hand cards out to everyone else who's out walking. You could even hand some out at your local dog park. I be found that word of mouth has been my best tool! Most of my repeat clients are referrals from past clients. I try to make each client feel special and unique by leaving thank you cards after each stay. I hand write the cards and be sure to talk about something specific each dog did while with me. It might sound crazy, but it's the little details that have left the biggest impression for me. Congrats on starting your own Rover business! |
answered a question | Why does Rover automatically sets me to "unavaliable" after accepting a stay request? Thanks for the advice, guys! :) |

asked a question | Why does Rover automatically sets me to "unavaliable" after accepting a stay request? Anytime I accept a stay request, my calendar automatically changes to "unavailable" where other clients can't book me for those same days. I only do travel sitting, so I am able to accept more than one dog at a time. I can go through and manually change my calendar back to "available" but is there a setting somewhere that I can set to not change my availability status unless I manually do it myself? |
