answered a question why are we not allowed inside sitter's house?

Hello I am a sitter and would never deny an owner the right to come inside my house. I have the Owner over for meet and greets and require that their dog come inside off leash and interact with the other dogs and see how they do. I stay right next to them and take control if aggression starts and have never had an issue. If the dog does well they get to book with me. Now once booked I do not allow the client inside during the drop off and pick up simply because of the chaos and potential fights it can start and I have had clients in the past just open the door when they are ready to go letting all the other dogs out before I can get them leashed up. Some have even opened my door when they arrive because they see me inside leashing the dogs and just assume they can come in. So to avoid runaways and fights I meet the Owner at their car for drop offs and pick ups it is easier for both parties and faster. If the sitter you are using does not require meet and greets and/or does not show you where the dogs will be staying move on to a different sitter. Not requiring a meet and greet can put your dog in potential danger because they may have an aggressive dog arrive after yours and not realize it getting your dog bitten. Not to mention they could end up with a dog with major tick flea and other issues that could be transferred to your dog. I hope this helps.

Thank you this answer was very helpful. I don't know this client and don't fully trust them so this route probably wont work for them. The client is completely out of Money and will lose his dog if someone cant watch him. I had him paying 1 day at a time but he cant afford that anymore.

asked a question If a dogs stay ends and Owner doesnt come pick them up what to do?

Hello I am curious about Rovers rule on dogs that their stay has ended but the Owner does not come pick them up. If this were to happen what should I do? Also I have an owner that I am watching a dog for that cant afford to prepay for the rest of the stay and wants to wait until the stay is over I am pretty sure Rover does not allow this but if they do please let me know. Thank you

I searched the question area but couldn't find a match that is why I am asking

asked a question Was told dog is house trained and when I left the room he tore up a lot of stuff what do i tell the owner?

I have been watching a dog for a week now and was told he is house trained. I have tested him a few times and left him in the room and everything seemed good but today when I went to the store he tore up almost $100 in stuff. He jumped up and dragged stuff off of my desk and chewed it all up. I know rover says their insurance will not cover these kind of damages. Since the owner lied and I didn't know to restrain him before I left my house would it be wrong for me to ask the owner to compensate me for the loss so I can replace my things? I always restrain the dogs that I know are not house trained when I leave.

answered a question Does anyone really brush their dog's teeth?

Another way would be to get your dog a beef knuckle bone to chew on. Dogs naturally clean their teeth by chewing on bones. I will say I am not a vet and cannot guarantee that this will prevent gum disease. I recently received a dog to sit the dogs teeth were covered in plaque after a week chewing on a beef knuckle every 3 days or so and a dental stick every night his teeth are white and his breath is not to bad. Please do not use rawhides or rawhide dental sticks these can harm or kill your dog also if you buy toothpaste for your dog make sure it does not have Formaldehyde, Detergent, Glycerine Glycol, chalk, Titanium Dioxide, and anything else that sounds harmful. human toothpaste generally has warnings not to ingest so be careful what you use to clean your dogs teeth. I hope this helps some of you and remember when concerning your dogs health always consult a trusted vet and get a second opinion the same as if they were your children.

commented answer why should i keep using rover after i use it for the first time when i have already the sitter's info?

Protection/insurance depends on your state. In the policies of Rover it states that if your state requires you to have insurance you must use your insurance first and if there is more than $250 left after that Rover will cover it and they may hold you responsible if you don't have what the state req

asked a question Does Rover charge 15% of adjusted costs?

I have clients who want me to sit their dogs for months at a time and they find it easier to have me go buy their dogs food. If I put the cost of food under adjusted costs will Rover still take 15% of that?

asked a question Do I get penalized for not responding to a message that is close ended?

For instance if an owner thanks me I thank them then they thank me again in messages it seems rude to respond again since the conversation is over. Will rover penalize me for no response or is that just for before everything has been booked?

answered a question Applying for a business license?

I am in Florida so Im not sure if I can answer you properly. But here as an independent contractor you need to have you federal business name registered (this is free if you include your name in your business) getting a tax ID and pay fed taxes every 3 months. Then you have to have a license based on your business address this may be just 1 with the county but if your address requires you to get a licenses with the city you also have to have one with the county so minimum 2 but it varies from city to city some city's such as Orlando require 5 licenses to walk dogs plus the county license. Once you make $600 or more you have to register at least with the Feds. I recommend calling your local licensing department to find all the rules here it is called "department of licensing and agriculture Florida" and are usually located close to a court house. I hope this helps.

answered a question Can you add daycare to available services?

At the moment you can have them book as if an overnight then adjust the final price down before finalizing the booking. Leave instructions in your description. example:

"Doggy Daycare Please contact me for this service to get detailed instructions. I offer Doggy Daycare at a lower rate than my overnight sitting but at the moment there is not an option to select Doggy Daycare so we simply book you for an overnight then lower the price. Doggy daycare is available between 7am-6pm. "

You don't have to use the overnight booking it is just one example you could book it as dog walking or cat care if you don't offer cat care. I am unsure how rovers insurance works but for a stay as long as daycare it may not cover if something happens if you booked dog walking. If you don't care about the between times you can say day care is for 10 hours or however long you want it to be for.

asked a question Owner requested an overnight stay at my place But wants me to come to his place

I have different prices based on traveling and have an owner that wants to avoid those so is trying to book a stay at my house but requesting me by messages to come by his house 2 times to walk his dog while he is gone. My dog walking charges are 10 to 15 a walk based on distance and it is 17 for a stay at my place. What am I supposed to do when this happens?
