Why do dogs go potty in the house after being outside for a long time?

Dog behaviors

It can be a marking behavior, they're showing that the home is THEIR space, so if another dog comes over they will smell their scent. It can also be a response to them not thinking their yard is clean enough to urinate/defecate in.

Try using keep off in your house or some kind of repellent spray . if your dogs old maybe your dog has a hard time holding it. If your dog is always outside maybe try spraying something to train him/her to "go" outside . you can buy anything like that in petco, something like "go here".

PS maybe your dog has anxiety or maybe your dog gets super excited and then he/she "goes" inside because your dogs finally inside I know plenty of people with the same problem.

It can be for a number of reasons. If they're young, it could be they they just need to go out more. Or it could be because of a new dog in the territory, or it could be because of food or medicine they're taking that causes them to go to the bathroom more. Those are all things I have experienced with dogs I've watched.

I feel as though sometimes they get confused on where to go. They may think outside is play space and inside is poop place, which is opposite to what we want them to think. Try shortening outside time and maybe try taking them to a specific place and ask them to go poop and pee. It may train them to go in that area. when they poop or pee in the house, Tell them no and immediately take them to their poopie place outside!
