I have had a “friendly “ dog go for my dad that was visiting. My dad was fine and the first time in 3 years but I did call rover to see if the pup has been reported for biting before since I was told a red flag story of another sitter calling the owners day one to get him because he didn’t like the sitter. Rover said it was his first stay so I assume there was another profile prior. I let the owners know and that he was ok but they need to know the importance of disclosing even the bad along with letting River note so no one gets hurt in the future. He was very good with me and I like him and would let him back but, had a prong collar, last sitter story, and owners mentioning a few times no one wanted him since he was not neutered.. I was disappointed in the owners not mentioning they keep him leashed with visitors when I always ask through txt for record “are they people friendly, are the men friendly, are the front door friendly, have they ever bitten, do they mark, do they chew, do they need any daily special needs like medication, are they runners (so I can put a gate at the front door)” I will not take a dog in with out a meet and greet. I will also decline if I feel a little uncomfortable during the meeting. Remember a meet and greet is for the owners AND the sitter.
We may be on our own.
We are on our own. Rover Gurantee basically protects the pet and pet owners property, 3rd party injury, but not us the sitters. We are paying 20% of our total earnings to facilitate Customer Support, app usage, payment processing & most importantly ongoing promotion for sitters on app.
But I think it should not exceed a certain amount. A max amount per booking. They currently have a max amount for owners of $50 We should have a max per booking too. Over $300 seems like alot especially knowing the sitter is not physically/ medically protected for injuries. Just my thoughts
