Dog Taxi Services?

I was wondering if anyone offered Dog Taxi services? I've had several coworkers and friends tell me that it would be a service I could be a lot of money on, especially living and working in the District.

For example, a co-worker has to pay her dog-sitter for Thursday night, despite leaving on Saturday, because she is unable to get a zip car and take him to the sitter on Friday evening after work. (I have obviously used this as an opening to promote myself to sit her dog, since I already check on her cat for her.)

This isn't a pickup/drop off so much as being the Dog's personal driver to boarding/doggie daycare/etc.

I was wondering if anyone had any success with that type of service, and if so, how they booked it, rates offered, etc.

It definitely is an opportunity in some areas. As for pricing, that is set by market rate. You may have to do a little research around the area you'd offer service. I'd think that you could still treat it like pick up and drop off - you're just taking it to another care facility, so you'd want to figure out what rates and distance you'd offer. And consider the liability aspect...for that, I'd suggest contacting Rover Support in order to understand all the complexities.

That sounds like something you should "include" in your district. Find out what they pay for a taxi/zip car and start a little lower. You can find out what the gov. allows for business deduction for mileage, add to that amount for wear and tear, fuel & insurance and include so much for you time. It sounds like you are a travel sitter so you have knowledge on charge and use it as a base and adjust.
