Are we going to get charged some "membership fee" to our credit card without our knowledge? How do we decline this?

Yes, there is a fee change going into effect in select cities now for new customers. This is the thread where it has been discussed:

When you book a sitting engagement, I would imagine the service fee, if applicable, would be on the invoice and not hidden.

In case you are not able to view the link above, here are some details. Rover Support stated the customer will see any applicable fee at checkout when booking a stay. In select cities, new owners joining Rover will be charged a 5% fee. This fee will never go over $25.
