Need a sitter for my blind dog?

Hi There,

I have a medium sized Cocker Spaniel who has recently gone blind. He can be a bit hostile with strangers, but is still a well trained and well mannered dog. I'm hoping to find a 'special needs' dog sitter with experience handling blind or handicapped dogs.

I will be away for about a week in December and was hoping to have a sitter stay at my home, to ensure that he is as comfortable as possible.

thank you!

Susan

I am willing to take care of your dog. I have fostered a blind dog before so i have experience with that and my sister worked in an animal hospital and has a lot experience working with handicapped dogs. I am willing to take the extra time for your dog to get comfortable with me and respect his boundaries. I look forward to hearing you soon.

I am curious as to what this cost you. I have a request for caring for 2 Springer Spaniels,, one is blind.

Hi Susan,

What you are looking for is a traveling sitter. They can either stay at your home or do several daily visits to take care of your special dog. This part of the Rover site is merely a nationwide discussion area for sitters and pet owners. What you need to do is go to the main www.rover.com site (or use the Search Sitters link at the very top of this page) and do a search for a traveling sitter, using your zipcode/city, to start. Then you can filter the results and interview those potential sitters who may meet your needs, especially for one that has experience with special-needs animals.

Good luck!
