What are English Bulldog traits?

What are English Bulldog traits? I'm regularly watching 2 English Bulldogs now, but prior to this client, I've never met one before. I understand that they have issues using their noses, so their constant noises from just trying to breathe I am getting used to.
I hear they are stubborn and can be obsessive. Can someone please tell me in what ways? I'm watching a male puppy and 14 month female. (not related) The puppy is just regular chewing obsessive for a puppy, as far as I can see. I just want to be aware of what I may be in for in the coming months. I'd appreciate any education and insight into the world of English Bulldogs!

With Bulldogs it is best to realize that even though they are strong willed and stubborn, they are equally distractible and goofy. Often with a bulldog is being stubborn, like on a walk, I will be silly and they will forget why they were being stubborn and follow me:) Keep them cool when it is hot, don't over exercise them, keep their wrinkles clean, and don't leave them unsupervised. They are like dinosaur toddlers.

In my limited awareness of the English Bulldog traits, basically just make sure they are not being overly possessive of toys or food and make sure to supervise them closely like regular puppies. You may want to do some internet research (maybe check out AKC's breed page at http://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/bulldog/) or talk to a bulldog breeder in your area. I think most importantly, talk to the owners and see if they have any special training activities for their bulldog pups - I've seen some people do lots of nose training to help with their sense of smell.

Unfortunately, I had an English Bulldog come for a stay and it didn't work out. One look at this very kind Golden Retriever and it sparked something in him and he kept wanting to attack the other dog. I am very concerned with ever having a bulldog in the house. Am I wrong? Was this a fluke?

I am a first time Old English Bulldog owner, which is basically the same as the English. They are sometimes a little taller, & supposed to have less health issues. He has had entropion surgery on both eyes, & palate resection. He still snores like a grown man though! He has some allergy issues as well. Be prepared for vet bills with this breed.
I have had him for a little over a year, & he will be 2 in a couple of weeks. He still has a lot of puppy energy, but its in spurts. You do have to be careful that they do not overheat. HIs prior owners gave him up because they did not have time for him. & said he was too wild. He is by far the most stubborn dog I have ever owned! He is like a 2 yr. old that never grows up. He actually throws a tantrum when he doesn't get his way, or when I am trying to discipline him. With that said, he is also the most affectionate dog that I have ever had. He is the best snuggler, & must be touching you. They are very needy as far as being with their person. I call him my stalker. He is super nosey, watches my every move, & doesn't forget a thing! He has to be in the middle of whatever I am doing. I do love him dearly & he is a silly dog that has a great sense of humor. He will steal your heart with his antics. Everywhere I take him people flock to him. I love to see people smile because of his smushy little face & goofy actions. He is definitely unlike any breed I have ever had.
