Any healthy but nice food recommendations for my chihuahua?

My Chihuahua is getting to the age of eight and she’s losing a lot of hair to the point where it is nearly just skin left, and she tends to be malting a lot and I don’t want to keep feeding her dry dog food so does anyone have any recommendations on healthy human food?

F you’re interested in cooking food for your dog, there are lots of recipes by dog loving people on the Internet, but they’re not necessarily nutritionally adequate is very few have been formulated scientifically by a veterinary nutritionist. Also there are some vitamins and minerals dogs need that are not present in the human food system, so you’d need to add some supplements. A helpful starting place might be https://www.justfoodfordogs.com/diy/ Click on a product that interests you and that launches another page with DIY cooking guide. To keep it fresh, I advise freezing portions into amount your dog would consume in 2-3 days and freezing separately.

Hair loss could be due to other things besides food. Maybe a visit to the vet would help?

Human grade food for chihuahua: The Farmer’s Dog Turkey Recipe

This Turkey Recipe is one of 4 human-grade wet formulas of the The Farmer’s Dog product line.

First 5 ingredients: USDA Turkey, chickpeas, carrot, broccoli, parsnip
Type: Grain-free
Profile: All life stages
Best for: Adult chihuahuas and puppies

Unless you meant you want homemade food for chihuahuas. I have 2 chihuahua mixes, they're 9 years old, and I cook them carrots, peas, potatoes, rice, chicken or beef in my pressure cooker. I give them fish oil for dogs. Joint supplements. And also give them dry food or wet food to go with it because of the other stuff they need, for the reasons Deb described above.

There's good canned wet food products formulated esp for chihuahuas on the market too.
