Client gave my number to a neighbor who wants to walk with me and the dog?

I’m pet sitting for a couple with a dog. They gave my phone number to a neighbor without asking me first. The neighbor has now texted asking me to go for a walk with them and the dog. I know my way around the neighborhood. I’m uncomfortable with the client giving my number out. I’m also uncomfortable with the neighbor wanting to walk with me. I don’t know the neighbor. I know that the clients were unsure about me pet sitting for them, so they may be nervous, and I want to get a good review. They are new clients. But this feels like it’s crossing a boundary. Any suggestions?

maybe you should let the owners know that you do not appreciate ur number being given out without your permission and just be truthful to the client, most of the time they'd understand.

This is exactly why Rover provides all clients and all sitters/walkers with a phone number, which can be seen from the profile. The assigned phone number then forward messages to the phone number on file, thereby keeping everyone’s cell phone numbers private unless you choose to share it.

Some people think nothing of giving out phone numbers and some people really dislike it. Let the owners know that you like to keep your phone number private & you appreciate that maybe they’re trying to help you grow your business and ask for any referrals that they please share your Rover link or if you want give them an email address.
