I’m sorry to read that your recently adopted Bichon seems to be suffering from anxiety. If a vet physical rules out no underlying conditions (which could need microscope to detect parasites, infection, pain response to a previous physical injury, hormone imbalance, nutrient deficiency, dry skin, environmental or food allergy) then you’re right to try tools aimed to alleviate boredom and anxiet such as thunder vest and pheromone calming spray. I’ve used both with mixed results for my dog.

Before resorting to adding medications that are sometimes given to help dogs cope, you may consider if there’s anything you can do that would help the dog adapt to a new home. possibilities... If the Bichon is alone for hours at a time, is there someone local (neighbor, friend, family member, or sitter without pet or similar matched dog) who can spend time and offer companionship while you’re away? Can you provide enrichment toys to help the Bichon to pass the time? Is the Bichon getting enough bonding through play time/ exercise.?
