How to stop dogs from peeing in one area of the house?
I have 4 small dogs - and watch other dogs. They all seem to pee in this one area of my house and now my laminate wood floors are warping badly. How do I stop them from peeing in this area? I have cleaned it really well - even with a little bleach to really disinfect the entire area (as I have a little boy as well) but they STILL pee in the area even though they have a doggy door access to the backyard! Please help! I don't want my floors to get damaged even worse!
Have you tried using vinegar? The main problem is getting rid of the urine smell. Discipline when seeing them do it, or possibly block them from entering the area.
Vinger and then, put down a puppy pad, to protect the floors from further damage. I also put something to block are.
No I have not tried vinegar - problem is the floors are laminate wood floors - how would vinegar help? I can't exactly let it soak - I'd have to use a mop to swiftly mop the floors.
vinegar helps to neutralize the ammonia coming from the urine ... you can put it in a spray bottle with some water. It would be less harmful then using bleach
They're all peeing there out of dominance. Apparently they're all in charge there. Lol. It's probably already in the wood. Have you tried to polish and paint the wood area? Tarnish it? Then maybe fence it out till it dries. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and even more so for marking territories.
Well, at least it's only one area. :) Block this area and clean with non toxic cleaners and an electric carpet cleaner until completely sanitised. Using vinegar and baking soda. Orange or lemon zest is good. Keep the dog well hydrated, walked and watched. Also, see that it's not a bladder infection.
Dogs and lots of pests outside hate the smell of mint. Go to Amazon and order spearmint oil. I used it and it stopped him from going where he wasn't supposed to go. Unfortunately, he's an indoors paper boy. Good Luck!!
I cleaned up urine with vinegar. Let areas completely dry, the I soak paper towel with jalapeño juice and placed in on area and when paper dried out I would at more jalapeño juice . I have only done this on tile so I don't know how it will work on carpet but my dogs no longer Pee on my tile
Kay R, Im sorry if this is a silly question but where can I find jalapeño juice? You mean buy canned / glass container of jalapeños and use the juice? Also, how often did you have to reapply?
The best thing for me is to put a gate around that area to push them to go out doors, or put a piece of furniture there. I have baby play yards around areas that she liked to pee until I get her fully potty trained. It's helped a lot and she's actually peeing outside; it's just poop is difficult
Maybe a silly question but use the regular white vinegar?
We had problems with our dog also. He used to pee or poop inside of our house all the time when left alone. We asked one friend who works in foster care. He has recommended me this http://bit.ly/2s3XuQF online dog trainer. . It's cheap but it delivered the needed result
All that stuff people say to use doesn't work and cost. What I suggest is to add a little coconut oil to your dogs food and then pour or wipe melted coconut oil in those spots where dog pee's. It works
