how can a client leave a review if they did not pay through rover?

A non-Rover customer of yours or friend cannot leave a review. However, they can leave a testimonial about your services. All you need to do is use the section in your Profile setup to request one. Here is the direct link:

The only difference is that it won't be labeled as being from a "Verified Stay."
