Where is our Dog?

asked 2020-08-17 19:33:58 -0600

Your sitter lost our dog... Then she went on holiday and pretended it hadn't happened. We are still broken!!!

You need to keep contacting Rover, make a pain of yourself. Contact your local shelters. Post on Facebook and social media. Blow up the sitter's phone until they actually respond. DON'T stop contacting Rover until they actually do something more than sending you a poster to put up.

I agree Rover support is best when those type of things happen. Obviously having a meet and greet with potential sitters are important. I notice the ones who take their job more seriously usually have higher rates and more reviews. I've had to pay twice the normal rate is find someone reliable, but it's worth it.

Sorry to hear of your situation.

You need to call Rover Customer Support at 888-453-7889. They don't come here.

We did that... In October, when it happened. 🤔 After the sitter went on holiday 2 days later, I received sympathy phone calls from Rover for a while. But no-one did anything to actually find our beloved boy. The sitter was a clueless kid who expected us to feel sorry for her!!!

She sat dogs for easy money for a laugh with her mates. The one thing we expected from her... To keep Iggy safe until we picked him up, was not top of her priorities!!

Then she went to a Birthday Party the next day. Left the country 2 days after... My partner and I had commitments the following Wednesday... We both had to leave London.

We searched and did everything to find him with no help until we had to leave...

I guess Rover sent us a poster to print up. That was it!!!

No accountability and basically left us bereaved and helpless. We never had human kids so Iggy was everything to us...

I just can't imagine the nightmare you are going through or the lack of responsibility shown by the sitter. My heart goes out to you.

You need to contact the rover support team maybe it will be useful for you. if it's not working then you can ask local people about Your dogs. Use social media, post missing reports in the local newspapers, and Find them with the Help of microchips, FOUND ME Tags, Gps collars, etc. I hope this suggestion will Help you to Find your dogs

This has been eye opening to me and lucky that my dog was found but yes, what the OP described is true

It's a very sad situation. Have you done a meet and greet prior hiring this sitter? You describe here as a clueless kid who petsits dogs for easy money for a laugh with her mates. Personally, I would NEVER hire a clueless kid to pet sit my precious pets. I am sorry that you decided a clueless kid was the best match for your need while there's so many wonderful and caring sitters out there. I am sorry to hear this ugly situation happened to you and her.

I'm sure the family appreciates hearing what you would never do. Super helpful and not at all condescending.
