How does rover work with Taxes? Are they taking taxes out or what?
Rover does not take out taxes or any other deductions besides their 15% fee. You are considered an independent contractor, so you are responsible for paying your own taxes on income you make with the site. Check out the IRS website for a publication covering Schedule C, which you will file for your business. Check with a tax professional for any specific questions you may have.
So would you get a 1099 with what Rover took for thier fee's?
I had my taxes done last year, I am in California. Here is what I learned... Save all your receipts for anything that you pay out of pocket for Rover.com even advertising such as business cards. Track your mileage when you are driving for Rover.com. A portion of the space you use to care for the pups is a write off and your part of your phone bill. I was lucky enough to have enough write offs that I did not owe any taxes. The tax lady told me to keep spending for the business and keeping track. I feel blessed to be my own boss and have Rover.com as my support when I need help.
Happy sitting,

Do I count any driving I do with a Rover dog? I would understand pick ups/drop offs, and mileage for travel sitting, but what about if I just drive the dogs to the park or a friend's house, or out to the beach?
Yes. If you are driving for work then yes! I take the dogs to the beach, hikes and the park. I drive at least 20 miles a day with my rover dogs.
Great! Thankfully with my facebook page, I can track specific trips back to their exact dates by the pictures I've posted. :)
What are the rules for the portion of your space/phone bill you can write off?
