Can I set up an initial meeting with the sitter before the actual scheduled boarding so she can meet my dog and I can meet her?

Yes, Rover actually encourages clients to do meet and greets before the stay. There is no charge for the meet and greets and it does exactly what you are looking for... it gives both you and the sitter a chance to sit down and go over the details of your pets stay, making sure that everyone is compatible.

I personally recommend meeting with a couple of sitters well in advance of your boarding (if possible). This way you get a feel for each sitter and see which one would best fit your needs.
