Why is my search rank lower than people with less qualifications?

Why is my Search Ranking so low? I'm below many others with less reviews, less repeat customers, and calendars that have not been updated. I understand it will take time to build up a customer base, but I now know why I haven't had a single hit. It took me 5 minutes to find myself and the only way to do so was by filtering to one price and within a 5 mile radius of my exact location.

I've surfed all the answers around here, and, my prices are as low as the search provides, I just passed the Rover 101 (I'll get the badge soon!), and I will start asking for reviews as I didn't realize Rover wasn't more diligent about asking owners to review (I don't normally open their emails as their so repetitive, why should I expect customers to do so after the fact!).

I don't know if there's anything else I'm missing. I know my services are limited, unfortunately I can't offer more and I'm not looking for a booming business. And I'm not really looking for outside advertising either, I know it could help, but I more just would love any tips or tricks why the search algorithm is pinning me so low!

Get frequent reviews definitely help in bumping you up in the search rankings and also having the Rover 101 badge, and accepting bookings are also key if you get requests that match your criteria and availability. But the search algorithm is a mystery to every sitter and rankings change all the time, so basically, its a crap shoot where you show up. All you can do is provide quality care and get reviews. Best of luck

In addition to the mysterious algorithm, without zooming into your area, there's 234 walkers when someone searches Redondo Beach. You are only 1 of 4 people (out of 234) that have chose the unbelievably low price of $10/visit. While pricing is a personal decision and there's many who say low price is best way to earn clients, it can also go the other way, with pet parents who set a minimum above your price because they don't think their dog will receive as good care from someone offering that low price. Also, I'm not sure how much Rover has of the LA based walking market, and I understand you're not able to expand services to include the most requested service - boarding, and also house sitting.

Thank you! I had set the price after looking around the board and seeing lots of suggestions to essentially give away services to start and then up the price as I gain more verified reviews. But I see your point of view and will look at increasing my cost!

Most of your competition is priced at $15 or higher, I would immediately raise your rates, don't be baited into thinking the lowest prices wins, it doesn't

Thank you! I really appreciate that feedback, as I was just trying to go with what other people had mentioned on the threads here. I wasn't sure how people searched. But I understand the higher price and have changed it!
