What happens if a dog is bitten by a snake?

A friends dog was recently bitten. When he took it to the VET, he found that anti-venom would cost $1200. He could not pay that so he opted to treat the symptons which still cost $500. The dog pulled through fine. My question to you is just what would I be expected to do if this happened to a dog that I was caring for?

I believe you would take it to the vet, notify Rover support and the owners, and do your best to keep the dog comfortable.

Rover.com insurance will help with the expense, but you have a $250 out of pocket. Whether or not the owners choose to reimburse you for that amount is between you and them.

My understanding of snake bites in dogs is that, though rarely lethal, they are still incredibly painful. You would take tender loving care of that pooch.
