What does "crate-trained dogs only" mean?

I know what a crate is, as far as dogs are concerned. My dogs were kept in a crate while I was housebreaking them. But I'm wondering why some dog boarders say "crate-trained dogs only" under their Preferences. Does that mean they will always put them in a crate when they're not in the house, or for overnight?

There is no hard set rule, but sitters who ask for crate trained dogs may crate if they leave the house or need to separate the dogs for quiet time or crate overnight. Many sitters will only accept crate trained dogs as they won't give them run of the house 24 hrs a day. You can discuss this with your sitter. Best of luck
