Why do bully sticks smell so bad?
The smell is horrible once they've been chewing on them for a while. Why is this?

Well, considering they are made from a bull's privates, the material may contain some urine and it can stink!!!! I bought them ONCE for my dogs and Grace loved it, but within 15 minutes there was a smell so overwhelming, the chew went in the outside trash! I've seen the "odor free" variety, but I could still smell some odor and I couldn't tell if they used questionable chemicals, so I didn't take a chance.
They are dehydrated bull penis. You can buy "softer" varieties that don't smell as bad. Dogs love them & give them something to do for a bit. Great for a few minutes of distraction.
I didn't know the answer to this either so I googled it and found out what it really was.... But I guess it depends on how they clean them? I also saw that there is odor free ones. Hope this helps :)
