I was charged $25. There was no option for a free one. I agree with the person who said it was a complete waste of money. When I complained that I haven’t had even one inquiry in three months despite showing a completely open calendar, Rover tried to blame it on me for not having a photo on my profile. Has anyone ever been given a copy of their background check? If they won’t refund my $25, the least they can do is give me a copy that I can use on my own since their company is absolutely worthless to me.

Like Kelsey said, Rover will do a free background check for you when you sign up, but if your address is a Gmail address just make sure you check your "Promotions" section because I was waiting for my clearance and then realized it had gotten sorted there!

Okay so I just signed up for Rover with my fiancé and she did all of it through the app while I did mine on the website. I was able to get my background check done at no cost, never even asked for my card information. For her, it’s making her pay $35 for a background check. This makes no sense once so ever.

For the background check question - it's free! You can do it all right through Rover's site when you sign up, I believe there is a list of things you have to do before you can be approved. It just takes a few days after you submit your background check for that to be approved.

No, it is not free. $35

I had to pay $35

And I already had background a check done recently through my new employer! :-(

That’s a complete lie! It’s 25 dollars! 🙄

I've been hearing $25 AND $35! WHICH is it Rover? And why can't you request to get a copy of the thing I personally paid for?! I was charged $35 by the way!

Around 4 yrs ago I paid $35. for Rover. Didn't accept my 2 day ago background $75 for extended background ( thorough ) check. 🤷 So go figure

There is an initial background check that is free. You will get a red, white and blue badge for passing it. (I don't think you'll be accepted as a sitter if you don't pass). Then, once you're a sitter there is a more in depth background check that as a sitter you have the option to take if you want. It will get you a different badge; red, white, blue and green. The same, but upgraded. Naturally it should make you more appealing to pet parents.
