How do I charge for 9 full days and nights of boarding in my home?

Hello, I am a new rover sitter, just approved and went live today, have a potential booking but not sure of correct way to charge and need rate info. A client wants me to watch his dog for 9 nights in my home, and the total tallied just my nightly boarding fee. If a dog is staying in my home full time for 9 days AND nights, I need to be compensated for my daytime hours as well. My overnight boarding fee is if a dog is staying overnight and leaving the next day, not 9 days and nights. Any suggestions how to properly bill for this, as I will be walking, feeding and watching this dog 24 hours a day, not just at night?

Each "night" of boarding includes the day as well. Rover's FAQ states it is for "up to 24 hours of care."

If you feel your rate isn't enough to cover 24 hours of care, then you should raise it to ensure you are adequately compensated for your time.

As an independent contractor, you can certainly charge however you'd like, but I think you are going to get into problems with customers when you try to cobble together an a la carte method of charging for your boarding services. Just be sure to communicate your interpretation of boarding and the add-on charges via messaging and it wouldn't hurt to outline it in your profile.

This is good advice! I’ve found that if Rover doesn’t have it as an offering on the app for us, it’s probably not a great idea to wheel and deal on the fly. Just be clear in your profile most important- drop off and pickup times, what to bring and Not bring, and clear firm $$ for extra time

For a good guideline google a few posh pet boarding places near you and see how clear and concise and strict they are with pricing. The pet parents know that cost already and some take advantage of Rover sitters assuming desperation for that booking since there’s so many sitters listed.

Which isn’t true at all, stick to your guns and they will respect you more. Good work isn’t cheap and Cheap care isn’t good. Always tell them, you don’t pay less, Rover gives you more. If they don’t bite, you would have never made them happy and always a half truth negative permanent review

As others have said, each sitter can set his/her prices and services however they like. I personally charge for 24 hours of care for boarding in my home. So if a client drops off at 6 pm, a one-night charge would have the dog leaving around 6 pm the following day.

Each sitter is entitled to set their own rates and what those rates entail, but understand that Rover's platform gives the impression that each 'night' of boarding is for 24 hours of care. If you would prefer that to be different, make it clear on your profile that the per night charge is only for specific hours (7pm-7am, etc) and if the owner would like to leave the dog in your care past those hours, they will be charged a daycare fee as well. You would then have to create two visits (1 boarding, 1 daycare), or manually edit the price of the booking, to get paid correctly.

Personally I think it's easiest to raise your prices and charge for each 24 hours. If you have clients that only want overnight care, you can discount their stays individually, but more often than not an owner will expect your boarding fee to be all inclusive.
