Limited Ingredient Food Recommendations?

My dog with food allergies is doing real good on Ziwipeak food. It's 90% lamb parts and 10% vitamins and such.

Can anyone recommend a similar food that is made in the US?

Here's the Ingredients Lamb Meat, Liver, Lung, Tripe, Heart and Kidney, New Zealand Green Mussel, Lecithin, Chicory Inulin, Dried Kelp, Parsley, Naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, Vitamins, Minerals.

For my dog's weight, this is about $130 a month to feed. Yikes!

I would recommend Stella and chewy. I work in holistic pet care and am familiar with that brand they are on (quite expensive)!) Stella and chewy make a "dandy lamb" formula that is 95% protein (lamb meat, organ, bone) and the rest is organic fruits and veggies. It is also freeze dried or frozen.

My dog eat Orijen. It's not made in the US, but in Canada (at least not China). It's pricey, but worth it. Every dog that I've hosted loves it, even dogs who also eat premium food, even a very picky dog on a raw diet, loves Orijen.

Tractor Supply Co. has a few affordable store-brand options that are very similar to the pricy foods, and feed supply stores also carry Diamond Brand pet food. I currently give Diamond Brand Beef & Brown Rice to my two little dogs and they are doing very well. Good luck!

Diamond has worked very well for my dog. He still has yeast problems though. I just bought Dinovite. When it arrives I will have to review it. At this point I will try anything. I just can't get him over this yeast bloom.

My dog also has an extremely long list of food allergies and I was able to find a well priced limited ingredient diet on http://PetFlow.com - I forget the exact name of it, but it was something along the lines of "Dr. E's the Good Life" ? and I used a promo code: VPS20 and got 20% plus free shipping. Hopefully you'll find something useful there!

I feed my dog Nature's Recipe Pure Essentials dry dog food. It is grain-free with limited ingredients. There are bits of actual dehydrated ingredients in it (peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and cranberries). My dog doesn't have any allergies, but I just want him to be on "natural" food with no grain. Just better for their diet I feel. My dog loves it too - he literally licks his bowl clean.

My lab has food allergies. She can't have beef, chicken, pork, dairy. We buy Call of the Wild. There a few varities but we have success with the Prairie formula which is bison.

California Naturals has limited ingredient grain free options including a lamb formula and a venison formula. I would also look at Sojo's grain free lamb mix. It's freeze dried but a great food made in Wisconsin. Canidae's Pure line is also limited ingredients and they have a lamb, salmon, duck or bison formula. They are made in the US. I also like Wild Calling. It's based in Colorado but they have a single protein line that is awesome.

We have 2miniature schnauzers with numerous allergies. Our last resort for food was IAMS KO - kibble food. It has made all the difference in the world. They no longer have skin rashes and infections and I don't have to put them on steroids consistently.

My one of my dogs had a lot of food allergy issues when he was a pup so I put him on the raw diet and made his veggies. If you have the time and don't mind doing some research on your own, a homemade or raw diet can be great because you know what's going into their food. About a year ago though, I started working more hours and had to cut down on my budget and switched him to Canidae. I'll usually mix in some of the Nature's Variety Instinct raw bits and he seems to do very well on it. Canidae has pretty high-quality ingredients but is pretty affordable- their new limited ingredient/grain-free kibbles are a bit more expensive but great for dogs with allergies.

We have a Scottish Terrier who was a rescue. He had been given the cheapest dog food by his previous owner. We had to try several different diet plans to see what would work. He didn't like the kibble. The canned wet food lile Evangers was ok for a limited time. We tried refridgerated variety of food. Then between our vet and accupuncturist, they recommended we give our dog a mixture of boiled chicken (free range, grass fed) sweet potato, digestive enzymes in powder form, DCO which has been blended to a powder form, his medicine, and olive oil. When he was sick due to my wife being gone, we added chinese herbs and half a package of Florifanna (spelling?). It has worked and keeps him healthy. Sometimes we supplement it with a different meat like roast beef so he gets variety.

I cannot rave enough about Blue Buffalo Basics. It's holistic food with limited ingredients. Look it up on line just so you can read the reviews. My dog is doing great on it.
