How do I do my taxes if i worked for Rover and made around 5k?

Do I list myself as being unemployed when I file my taxes or does this constitute as a PT job and Rover has an EIN or employer code? I made a little over $5,000 and I started in February. I get paid via paypal and read the requirements for a 1099 but i am clueless on what that is. Someone break it down for me please? Lol

1 you are not unemployed! You are employed by yourself as an independent contractor. You will not receive a 1099 because of the earnings threshold from PayPal, you should use your earnings history to report your income. As an independent contractor and business owner, you are required to file Schedule C with your taxes.

You should consider finding a CPA or a good tax advisor

A 1099 is a tax document sent by employers to independent contractors to report the payments to the IRS. It is only required when a contractor is paid over $600. That being said, Rover will not issue a 1099. The document is not required, however, for filing income taxes. You are considered an independent contractor and you will use Schedule C to report your earnings and expenses.
