Is it just me? [closed]

As a sitter, I sometimes wish that we could also rate the owner and not just the dogs... I've encountered cool dogs with a rude owner/s who somehow thinks they're "time" is the only ones valuable. 1. Not letting you know if they're gonna be late or what. 2. In denial owner and makes you look like a bad person and not doing your job right when you tell them the pup's having accidents or whatever they've destroyed.

I love what I do by the way and I know I'm good at it.

I think it is good that Rover does not allow this. While I think some good would be achieved in allowing sitters to notify others about aggressive behaviors, late pickups, and accident-prone dogs, I think far more harm could come to Rover sitters if dog owners were suddenly able to see negative reviews about themselves. I think Rover could quickly lose favor with the community and lose business as a result. I also think it would be unfair to let sitters share thoughts about owners without giving owners the chance to defend themselves. That's gossip.

Instead, I keep notes for myself and if an encounter is negative enough, I block that owner from future bookings with me. BTW, I've only done this once, with an owner who had an excuse for not scheduling a meet-and-greet and failed to pay for a visit up front. I took this intro as a sign of troubles to come, so refused to take his dog. If I encounter a serious problem with an owner, I would notify Rover and trust they would block that person from future use of Rover.

yes i’ve had the same issue, i’ve had one owner tell me he would pick up at 630 am, a little early for me but i figured hey just give him their dog and go back to sleep, however by 7 am he still wasn’t there so i ask him if he’s on his way, he tells me at 730 am he actually won’t be coming til the evening!!! i was beyond mad because 1 i woke up early for no reason and 2 i wasn’t planning on having dogs he rest of the day and had already made other plans, then to top it off he was 3 hours late from the time i told him to pick up his dog by. just know not to do business with these kinds of people.

These are common complaints from many sitters. People are people and dogs are dogs, everyone is different and there's not much you can do about it. Even if you could rate an owner the review isn't available to other sitters

I think it is wise to get to know the owner & pet a little bit before accepting. It's nice that there is the feature to chat back and forth before confirming. I know this doesn't solve everything, but it is somewhat of an interview that you could use to make an educated decision. It is more work, however it is worth it!

I agree completely. Some owners don’t meet the basic needs to ensure a safe, positive stay.

I have a question that’s unrelated I want to ask Rover community but i can’t find where I click to post my own question. Can anybody help me with that? Thanks!
