When should I spay my puppy?

Traditionally, vets recommend spaying around 6-9 months, but in recent years the recommendation has changed. They are now advising you to spay as early as 8 weeks. Spaying before their first heat cycle drastically reduces the chance of uterine and mammary tumors later in life. Tumors, once they develop are cancerous 50% of the time in dogs and 90% of the time in cats. Mammary cancer is the 3rd most common cancer in cats and the 4th most common cancer in dogs.

Spaying early is you and your pet's best bet for a long healthy life together.
