House sitting vs drop in?

I will be going out of town for 11 days and need a dog sitter for 3 of my dogs. I can't figure out the cost on this. I would need someone to let my dogs out 3-4 times a day and prefer that they stay at my home, but when I click on house sitting it gives details that the dog is let out every "2-3" hours, but does this only mean at night? Will I have to pay the drop in rate for each time and for each dog, or just pay for the house sitting services?

Every sitter on Rover is independent and may have different ways they perform the house-sitting service. Also, each sitter sets his/her own rates and may discount for additional dogs, but may not. This is why it is important to read each sitter's profile carefully and then discuss your needs and how they will fulfill them.

A drop-in is quite clear. The sitter comes to your home for a 30-minute visit. The sitter will spend time with your pet and will, at a minimum let them out. Some may do a walk; others may not.

However, house-sitting services vary widely. According to Rover, each "night" is good for up to 24 hours of pet care, which would include feeding, walking, playing, etc. It should be considered a premium service, costing more, because the sitter is staying in your home (although not necessarily 24/7) but may go out to take care of other pets in his/her care. There will also be "additional pet" charges for this service.

Not all sitters do this. Some may only stay overnight (e.g., 8pm-8am) and then you would need to also book a drop-in for mid-day or similar.

The "let out every 2-3 hours" is only a guideline that this sitter is there to ensure your pet has access to potty breaks as needed. I know it is quite confusing, but decide on exactly what you need and then talk to several sitters offering house-sitting to find one that meets your pets' needs at the right cost.

Your requirements for your dog's care should be discussed in depth at the first meeting with a potential sitter or via messages prior to meeting. Tell them what you are looking for (someone to stay overnight, can they come and go during the day, do they stay there 24/7) and see what the sitter's policies are. Each sitter sets their own rules, rates, and business policies.

I price house sitting to include visits during the day plus I’m back at the clients home around 8 to stay the night. So I get up in the Am let the dogs out to potty then feed them and then I leave. Return at noon to walk/ play and potty, then back at 3 or 4 for the same. Then back at 8 for the night. All included plus pick up mail, water some plants if needed and if the dog sheds a lot I wil vacuum hair if the owner doesn’t mind.

What is your pricing? I’m struggling to find a good price point for myself (as a pet sitter), and how much would you ask for if you were to only stay at night?
