Out of the 2 Rover Stays I've had- one the girl and I hit it off really well and are friends now. It was a one bedroom apartment and I was there for 4 days-she allowed me to sleep in her bed. She changed the sheets and I slept on the opposite side that she said was "her side". She let me know she would unlock the computer and leave the keys to the pool/gym/etc and to make myself at home. I watched Netflix and used her computer to access Rover and order take out. I also used the shower and washer/dryer to clean my work clothes since I was staying there.

The second stay, they had a guest room and told me to make myself at home.

A couple I met and greeted with told me I could sleep on their day bed in their living room. People will definitely let you know where it is okay!

My client gave me a quick tour of their house, and gave me the option of sleeping wherever I was comfortable, either in the child's bed or the master bedroom. They also brought up the subject of letting me watch their TV, bringing my laptop over and hooking it up to the wi-fi, and what I could eat that was already stocked in their house. (This is going to be a week stay, mind you)

If they hadn't have brought a couple of those topics up first, I would have asked about them at some point after getting to know the dog better.

I completely agree with Cari's answer. I'd add that at the meet & greet, if you will be spending more time there than just walking, to also ask about phone, TV, and internet privileges --- which was probably included in the etc. I have nearly the same experience so far, with the exception of a couple households that made up a bed for me (and my dog and their dogs to enjoy).

This is something to be discussed at the meet and greet prior to the visit. None of my traveling sitter clients want me to spend the night, so I just visit the dog 2-3 times a day. If they do want you to sleep over, hopefully there will be a guest room for you. But it all depends on what the client wants. If they want you to stay over, be sure and ask about kitchen and bath privileges, etc. to determine what parts of the house you're allowed access to and use of.
