What can you use to wash your dog?

What can you use to wash your dog? Can I just use my shampoo?

Human shampoo is much more acidic and can harm the PH of your dogs skin. Their are lots of everyday household products you can use to make your own dog shampoo. I use 1 cup liquid dish soap (I used Dawn for sensitive skin) 1 cup white vinegar 1 quart warm water. The quart lasts for months.

Uh, vinegar is acidic.

I agree with Caroline. Human shampoo is not meant for dogs' sensitive skin and can be quite irritating. You can use Dawn dish detergent, but I wouldn't recommend this unless your dog has fleas, as it's not meant for long-term use. It's best to just get a doggie-formulated shampoo from your vet or a pet story. You don't need anything fancy or medicated, unless your dog has a medical issue. Aloe and oatmeal formulas are great for the average pup.

Baby shampoo is a great tearless alternative as well dog grooming products. An oatmeal or medicated conditioners are great for dry skin, itching and shedding control!

If you don’t have any dog shampoo baby shampoo or wipes work great in a pinch. You can also make homemade dry shampoo with baking soda and corn starch to soak up oil and deodorize safely :)
