Do I actually have to stay a night at the owner's house?

Hi, I'm obviously new here and I was planning on signing up to be a dog sitter. On the application, I was going to choose the travel sitting option, but I do not know the full details of it. If I were chosen as a sitter, do I actually have to spend the night at the owner's house? It'd also be very helpful if someone just explain the entire process to me. Thank you for the help!:)

Hi Michelle, You can offer all or just some of the services.

As a traveling sitter, if you do not want to stay overnight in the owner's house with their pet, you can offer walks. Some clients that do not need you to stay overnight in their home and prefer the sitter either travel or stay there for walks.

For In-Home Boarding, again, you can decide if you want to offer overnight boarding in your home, or walks.

Day care is not listed under services at this time, but if you only want to offer services during days&evenings, you could mention that in your profile and/or when asked.

The details are something you would discuss with the owner either at or before the meet and greet, which I strongly recommend before you book a stay. Each client is different and has different expectations. For traveling sitters, some clients will want you to move into their home for the stay, some will just want you to visit several times a day for walks, potty breaks, etc. For in home boarding, you will keep the dog in your home.

I have profiles for both types of services. For my traveling sitter prices, I have one price for a daily visit, which includes 2-3 visits to the owner's home to take care of the dog, plus turn lights on/off, take in the mail, anything to make it appear that the owner is home. I also list dog walking services, which is just a 20-30 minute walk, nothing else. My in home boarding price covers keeping the dog in my home, with feeding, walking, playtime included.
