Why does my dog not eat his food sometimes?

asked 2017-05-04 17:30:38 -0500

My dog sometimes avoids his food. Does this mean he doesn't like it? How can I tell what kind of food he likes? I want him to eat well!

Dogs get bored with their food , just like human , try to change it to something else for a change

Sometimes he just may not be hungry. You may also be feeding him too much. Some dogs just like to nibble on there food all day and some like to scarf in down in two seconds. That doesn't nesscessarily mean that the dog that eats quickly likes his food better. Some humans eat slower than others it's the same with dogs. If you want him to eat all his food at once though you could try putting some warm broth in it and mix it up really well. My dogs love it.

Most pet store will let you return food if the dog did not like it or offer sample bags. I have a chihuahua who is extremely picky so I just make his food myself.
