Owner agreed to book with me but accidentally confirmed with a different sitter, now what?

I had a client who after lengthy communication agreed to use me for dog sitting services. I went through all of the details with her on how to book etc and we confirmed pick up and drop off time etc. She went to confirm booking today and she said she accidentally confirmed with the wrong sitter. I told her she could reach out to rover but then she said she was too busy and was just going to go with the other sitter. I figured I would ask this question....even though I probably know the answer won't be in my favor.....but what can I do if I have confirmation in writing from her even though she didn't hit the confirm button on the booking.

She said she was really confused because she had reached out to a few different people and was confused by which link she was supposed to select. I'm really frustrated by this because her request was last minute and I had changed my plans to accommodate for this job.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Ugh, that sounds like a pain. So sorry you are dealing with this!

I have never had this happen. If you both felt strongly that you should be the sitter for the stay, and you had communicated all of this via the Rover platform, you could reach out to Rover support yourself and ask that they change on the behalf of your client. They would then reach out and confirm with her and then make the change.

However, since she doesn't seem to have a strong preference between sitters, I don't think there is much you can do at this point other than take it as a learning experience.

Rover automatically suggests that clients select multiple sitters to reach out to, to ensure clients find a good match. However, it can be confusing for some people, and I know many other sitters have had similar problems. You might want to reach out to Rover Support and tell them about this, just so that they recognize how confusing it currently is on the owners' side, and how it impacts sitters.
