Meet and greet question

Hi,

I am new to this. and this would be my first client on Rover. They seem nice, but joined the website the same day they put in the request. We have been communicating and i asked we meet at a panera near their house so we can go over the questionnaire and they want me to come over. I am bringing my boyfriend with me but do you think it is wrong if i insist on meeting at panera first and then walking to their apartment?? thanks!

That isn't unusual at all. Just like any other online site where you interact before meeting in person, it's important to take cautionary steps to ensure your safety. Meeting at a cafe or park where you'll be in the company of others seems like a great idea to me. As a dog sitter, I feel much more comfortable meeting at a public spot. I've also had many dog owners who bring along a friend or spouse to the first meet and greet just to be safe.

Is the request for a traveling stay? If not, I'd encourage you to do the meet and greet at your home. If it IS, I've brought my boyfriend with before, it's never been an issue. I don't think it's wrong to meet somewhere public before going to their home, but again, I would only visit the home if it were for a traveling stay. Go with your gut, if it doesn't feel right, then it might not be the right stay for you.

I take it you are going to their home for the sit? I like a park for a walk and talk during the meet and greet so you can get to know the dog on a walk. Then to the home if you have time.
