How many dogs find a place to live each year -- more simply put, is there data on how many new pets occur each year (pet stores, breeders, adopted all included) Thanks.
I don't have a number for you but I did find a good resource with statistics of animals born vs. adopted vs. euthanized, etc. Seems like those numbers could be translated into the amount of dogs who find a home. Unfortunately, I don't have enough "treats" to post a link on the Q&A board so here's what I typed into the bing search engine: "How many pets are born each year" The first result was an article on Animal Overpopulation from the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society. Hope you can find it! Very interesting. And sad. :(

You may also consider connecting with some of your local humane societies or shelters to find data and statistics relevant to your area. They all track and maintain databases, so that might be interesting!
