Best carpet spray?

There have been many accidents in my home since I have dogs over nearly all the time. I'm STILL on the hunt for a pet odor eliminator/enzyme spray that will remove the scent of urine in certain spots of my carpet. What do you use?

Hi Amber!

For immediate stains, I always using baking soda. It's super cheap and really soaks up the urine before it has time to settle in the carpet. This will eliminate the odor and prevent a stain from forming. It's worked every time for me.

I use Natures Miracle. The important thing is to be sure you get it all. Dogs sometimes mark in the most strange places. I bought a black light. Which can either turn you into a crazy cleaning person like myself when I saw everything light up. Be prepared. I've invested in the spot bot, the bissell carpet cleaner, two vacuums AND the steam floor mop.. (keep receipts, all tax deductible). I find the carpet cleaner solution much cheaper on amazon and best buy typically has their cleaners on clearance every few months. I also found an awesome "pet" candle at a local pet botique store that helps with any pet odor. OH and I keep bath and body works in business by shopping their with a 20% coupon or during the holidays when their plug ins come in multiple packs:) The joys of pet sitting.

Good Luck

Vinegar is the all around best odor neutralizer. You can dilute it 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts water in a spray bottle and spray it on carpets or upholstery or put some in the washing machine with soiled sheets or other machine washables. The smell of vinegar will evaporate with a few days along with the offending odors. However, you can also order Nature's Miracle from Petco which is pretty good solution as well. http://reviews.petco.com/3554/2437/natures-miracle-natures-miracle-stain-odor-remover-reviews/reviews.htm (http://reviews.petco.com/3554/2437/na...)

Nature's Maricle is definitely the best stain/odor remover that I've used. Its a little pricey though so I started making my own cleaning spray with water and distilled vinegar or apple cider vinegar for every day messes. Both work great and can be more economical but I'll still usually do a deep clean with natures maricle at least 1x/week.

Nature's Miracle is an excellent stain, spot, and odor remover. I discovered the product in 1998 and I haven't needed to use anything else. Also, their cat litter is better than most. You can get it at Petsmart and Petco in spray or gallon jug.

I know this post is old but I had to put my two sense in. I found a product on Amazon who had 4.5 stars and the people who gave it a 4 stars was only because they tried it for odor but not for stain removal. It is called Pet Peeve Household Pet Stain and Odor Eliminator. I bought this after trying Natures Miracle from Petsmart and it was a waste. The dogs would pee on the same stain I had just cleaned up. I bought this product and after cleaning up urine, I noticed that the dogs and the meet and greet would smell the spot and keep on walking. Holy Cow I couldn't believe it! Now, I am not a fan of the smell. I think it is really strong but the direction says to spray liberally. It's not cheap but I personally think it is worth it for odor eliminating. Anything to stop the guest dogs from marking on the same spot.I also tried it on a stain where a dog pooped on my carpet and lucky me, it was soft poop. After cleaning it like I normally would I sprayed this on it, left it for 15 minutes and cleaned it up again. Then I sprayed again and did not clean it up, I just left the spray working there. It surely did the trick.

Which was the waste? Nature's Miracle or Pet Peeve?

Nature's Miracle. I recommend Pet Peeve although the smell is pretty strong. Some people like it but I am not crazy about it.

Frances. Thanks for putting in your $.02 to an old post. It was valuable. I may compare the two products. Pet Peeve might be "a better mouse trip" sort of speak. Unfortunately for me I might be at the point where I will have to invest in new carpet. Chemicals and shampooing, even deep cleaning, can only go so far. It will not eliminate odors trapped in padding. (I wonder if new carpet is a business tax deductible.)

Invest in a carpet shampooer like a Bissell seriously it's been the BEST investment i've made since sitting.

I have a handheld one, but the solution I have been using doesn't eliminate the enzymes.
