Hi, Hedda! Per Rover, an overnight includes pet care for a 24 hour span. Obviously you do not need to stay at the client's home for 24 hours, but you are expected to care for them throughout the day, not just overnight. If you have other drop-ins/walks to do during those days, I would suggest confirming with the owners that you will be in and out during the day to work with other clients or to do errands, etc, but won't leave the dogs alone for more than X number of hours (I usually go with 5 hours, but some clients are more lenient.)

I always discuss this topic at the M&G (or via message if repeat client). I first ask what their expectations/requirements are - do I need to be physically in the house 24/7? Can I leave during the day? Based on their answers, I explain that my normal procedure is that I will be in their home the majority of the time, but I will leave for no more than 2 hours a day to run errands, check on my house, visit other clients, etc. and usually not every day. I am always there from dusk to dawn because I don't like driving after dark.

Rover states that overnight is for up to 24 hours, but client's and sitters can make agreements to customize the experience and make it the best for the dog. In order to make that determination, you need the owner's input. Some dogs can be left alone longer than others (i.e due to age, separation anxiety, or medical issues, etc.).

If nobody else will be caring for the dog, it will depend on you for all of it's needs, so it seems the dog would need a walk (or more) between 6 AM and 6 PM. https://support.rover.com/hc/en-us/ar...
