Are pet supplies deductible?

As pet sitters, can we write off treats, beds, leashes etc. ?

Officially, you should refer questions like this to an accountant/tax advisor. Unofficially, I'd say, yes. ;-)

I agree that you should check with a tax professional. I did work for H&R Block one year, and I've been an independent contractor for 7 years (another industry), so I'm a little familiar with the laws regarding independent contractors and Schedule C deductions. The rule of thumb is that if it is used exclusively for your business, it is probably deductible. For example, if you buy beds, treats, poop bags, etc. and use them exclusively for your clients (don't use them with your own pets), they are considered expenses and can probably be deducted. If there's any question I would not. I am no longer a tax professional, so again, check with a CPA or other professional to be sure.
