“We were so happy to find Vanessa. Immediately she gained our little guy’s trust. She took care of our Luigi as if he was one of their own. They walked, travelled with Luigi, even sent us pics. We brought him back home as if nothing happen. We couldn’t have done a better job. He was extremely joyful when we picked him up. No anxiety at all. Definitely recommend Vanessa. Thank you so so much. 5⭐️ Sitter Service”

“Melanie and Thibault were amazing sitters for Hunter and went above and beyond the dog sitting contract when they helped my husband and I figure ourselves out after getting a flat tire - Thibault drove my husband around to where he needed to be and Melanie invited me and the kids into their home while we waited fpr everything to get figured out - they took amazing care of our sweet pup and our family - 10/10 recommend!!!”

“Ágata was really good since we met. Very receptive to the way we asked her to do Snoopy's routines in feeding, etc. Very nice to talk to and very friendly with Snoopy. She kept us updated all the time, sending us pictures of walks, etc. and in general comments on how Snoopy was doing. And always quick to reply to messages in a very kind and friendly way. Very positive experience”

“Michael est un excellent gardien pour Mowgli qui n’est pas un chien facile. Mon chien a beaucoup d’énergie et il est revenu si fatigué, il semble avoir eu un weekend de rêve! J’ai beaucoup apprécié les photos et vidéos envoyées. Il réponds aussi toujours très rapidement. Je vous recommande Michael n’importe quand!”

About: Lifelong big-dog owner and cat owner , experienced trainer and walker. Reliable, very active, and flexible with all animals — I treat every pet like family! Because I’m an at-home student, I have full control over my schedule and can easily dedicate time to caring for pets throughout the day. I plan my study time around their routines to make sure they always get consistent attention, walks, feeding, and playtime. Their comfort and happiness always come first in my day. I care for pets in their own home where they feel most comfortable. I follow their routines carefully, make sure walks are safe and fun, and send photo updates whenever you’d like so you always know how they’re doing.
About: Our experience petsitting has been so inspiring and eye-opening. Petsitting has enabled us to live and visit Leeds (UK), Halifax, Montreal, Brossard, St-Bruno, Quebec (Canada) Vermont, New Hampshire (USA) and Seville (Spain). We are so grateful for the opportunities that petsitting has opened up for us. The sits have ranged from 2 weeks - 1 month at a time, with pets ranging from young to elderly dogs, young to old cats, rabbits, fish and more. We have experience administering medication and supporting the animals through end-of-life care. Taking care of plants is also a joy of ours! The animals we have cared for hold a special place in our hearts and it's always difficult saying goodbye. I am currently an online English teacher, starting their own teaching academy, so I work remotely and love to give love and affection to animals whilst I work. I work remotely, so if you have needy pets, we will be at home the majority of the time! Our apartment can only hold one small dog and one cat at a time, we do not have a garden however, we take the dogs out for several walks and toilet breaks.
“Ksenia was wonderful with Cheddar, and sent daily photos and videos that reassured us over our 10 day vacation. She’s conscientious, trustworthy and, most importantly, was clearly loved by our dog, who we know is looking forward to staying with her again!”

“Tania did a great job looking after our two dogs. She was reliable, professional, and flexible—especially when we had a last-minute emergency and needed to extend their stay by an extra night. We really appreciated her willingness to accommodate us on short notice. The dogs were well cared for, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again.”

“Loretta was so kind and easy to deal with. Attentive and responsive. Our pup is a higher maintenance “pandemic dog” and Loretta was able to understand her needs and accommodate. We are so appreciative of her intuitive skills and experience. An amazing experience.”

“Elle est merveilleuse. On a un petit chien qui a passé une merveilleuse semaine. On le fait garder rarement et je n’aurais jamais pu imaginer l’envoyer en pension avec plein d’autres chiens. Avec Kim il a été bien traité et priorisé. Que de bons commentaires à faire.”

“Although Keery's service was a tad bit expensive, she was very kind and cared very well for Yujo. He came back very happy and tired (in a good way) from his stay and did not show any signs of anxiety like he did when he came back from his previous babysitter. I'm sure he enjoyed his play in Keery's backyard. We also appreciated how Keery sent multiple pictures every day of Yujo and made sure we knew how he was doing. This service was worth the money!”

About: Being a mom to my border collie/aussie shepherd for almost 5 years showed me how pure a pet’s love is, and it made me want to look for more opportunities to spend time with pets. I currently volunteer at Penny Lane Animal Sanctuary, where I help take care of animals that come from situations of abuse and neglect. It is hard, rewarding work and I get to spend some time with cows, goats, sheep’s (and more!) while I am at it. I love taking care of animals and getting to know their quirks and unique personality. With a pretty high-energy dog that requires long walks, lots of exercise and mental stimulation, I can help you taking care of your pet, if you are struggling to find the time or the energy, or if you are going on vacation. I am available for walks, drop ins, house sitting, boarding or daycare. Send me a note if you’d like to schedule a meet and greet! 🐶 My schedule is pretty flexible. Whether it’s during the weekend, in the afternoon, evening, or a lunch drop in, my schedule is flexible enough to accommodate that. If you have an emergency event and need to leave the house, I can make myself available!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
