About: My name is Laura and I am come from a long background in animal care in zoos and aquariums and have animal training experience using positive reinforcement (operant conditioning). I would be happy to help train your pet/animal or take them on long walks. I love being outside and have had dogs my whole life. I currently have two dogs of my own, a pit/lab mix and an Australian cattle dog. I currently work Monday-Friday, but am available on weekends anytime (Saturday and Sunday) and some evenings (6-8pm) on weekdays. I would be happy to come by your place several times throughout the day/evening to care for your pet. Safety is my number one priority. When I take animals for walks we are safe around other animals and people. I have two friendly dogs that love to play that and would be happy to socialize your dog with mine as long as they get along with other animals.

“Prior to our week of vacation in Avon , we used Rover to find a pet sitter for our dog, Toto. so that we could spend a day at Wright Brothers, Jockey's Ridge, and the Lost Colony play. Cynthia was in the area, and after sending her a message, she messaged me back immediately and everything was set up promptly. We arrived around 11:45 AM on the appointed day and were met by Cynthia and her husband. Both are absolute dog-lovers, and their 4 dogs welcomed Toto into their home immediately. Their home is set up perfectly for hosting dogs; a large, fenced pen area and a big, dog-friendly living room. Her personal dogs were friendly, and she also was watching a poodle who seemed to be a frequent visitor. We gave her the scoop on our Toto, and knew he'd be in good hands for the day. On several occasions throughout the day, she texted us photos to let Toto was doing well. Upon pickup at 10:45 PM- when the play was over, which coincidently was a 5-minute drive from her house- she gave us an overview of his day, including a walk through the Lost Colony park with her dogs- and said her goodbyes. Everyone- Cynthia, Toto, and our family- had a great day with this arrangement. The next day, she texted us several more photos of Toto that had not come through the previous day. We highly recommend Cynthia. She is knowledgeable about dogs, loves dogs, and has the right setup to take care of your furry family member!”

“Jessica and Earl were amazing. They love dogs, and their little pup is beyond sweet. Our pups got along wonderfully, and their large, fenced in back yard was a huge plus. Lots of room for my dog to run and play. Someone’s home for the majority of the day, and they made sure my pup was comfortable and happy at all times. I will definitely be using them in the future.”

“Erin was an awesome sitter. She watched our golden retriever for a couple days and had a fantastic setup; Giant fenced in backyard with a pool and other dogs that got along really well. She updated us with pictures and was very easy to communicate with. Dog must have had a blast because she was exhausted when we picked her up. Will definitely return if in the OBX area!”

“Rose took amazing care of my two fur babies for 3 nights. Her homestead is the perfect place to board your animals, and she is very personable. She is great to work with! She sent many pics of the dogs out and about while under her care. One of my dogs is a sweetie with humans but doesn't always interact well with other dogs (outside of his fur sister) and certainly not small animals. I was so worried about boarding him. Rose knew exactly how to take care of him and both dogs came back to our family happy and well-cared for. I will definitely be boarding with her again in the future! Thanks again Rose and family!”

“Mary is incredible! This was my first time using Rover. I'll admit, I was apprehensive. I have an older dog who does not do well in kennels. I was so happy to find an in home boarder! Although he is sweet, he was very confused and nervous about the strange place that I left him (as expected). Mary worked with him and calmed his nerves. Within the first few minutes of watching her interact with him, I could see that she is very experienced and had a calming effect on him. I really lucked out finding Mary and I am HIGHLY recommending her!!”
