Certified trainer & pet sitter

Pet care experience

MY BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE: I’m a certified animal trainer (CPDT-ka) with experience in the animal care, veterinary, and behavior sectors since 2008 (despite only having started working with Rover in January 2024) though rescue, foster care, behavior modification/training and animal shelter work. I have experience administering subcutaneous, oral and suppository medications, as well as canine first aid experience. I’ve done everything from bottle feeding neonatal puppies, fostering puppies and adult dogs, managing and providing behavioral and medical support to puppy foster volunteers to raising my own puppies. Ever since I was young, I wanted to work with dogs to provide them with a voice through education and training. My speciality is working with shy / fearful dogs to help them build confidence—I’ve worked with hundreds of dogs with significant fear and anxiety to prepare them for adoption and helped foster volunteers build skills to do the same. Needless to say, your dog will be treated with kindness and affection during their stay. My goal is to create a harmonious and comfortable space for each dog in my care.

Emily was great. I think Polo liked the company of her 3 dogs, he seemed in great spirits the night I picked him up. She sent lots photos and videos while I was gone. She even kept him for an extra 6 hours which was really appreciated after a very long drive. I will be using her services again!

Emily was so great with my girl! She sent me daily photos and videos while I was away and even hand-fed my dog when she was being stubborn and not wanting to eat. You can definitely tell that she is very experienced with animals and cares about them. She made my girl feel like she was at home. We will definitely be booking with her again :)

Emily is incredibly kind, responsive and professional. Communication was always great. I believe she really cares and knows about dogs. The only thing she can improve is her backyard. To chip away the weeds and make it cleaner and nicer would make her place much more appealing . Maybe dogs don’t mind, but owners do 😉

Safety, trust & environment

WHAT MAKES MY SERVICES SPECIAL: -Though Rover does not require it. I have business insurance for my pet sitting and training services -In animal welfare, we provide LIMA (least intrusive and minimally aversive) methods. This means that I don’t force, intimidate or coerce dogs into doing what I want. Instead, I build a relationship with each dog in my care based off of trust, consent, and play or yummy treats. I am always watching each dog to make sure they are comfortable with interactions with one another as well as me and “opting in” to interactions during consent checks. My goal is to let everyone play, run out their zoomies and the promote periods of calm and relaxation, often facilitated by calm touch/massage. While at my home, your dog will be treated like another one of my dogs. Dogs get bed and couch access (unless otherwise specified by you). If house trained, they get to free roam with access to the yard as well. As a certified animal trainer, I can help build foundations for some behavior modification and training for your dog during their stay. There is an additional service fee for this. Important notes: -I require each pet to visit my home and meet each of my dogs individually prior to confirming a booking to make sure that they (as well as my resident pets) all get along. -The Nextdoor neighbors own chickens which are visible through the adjoining chain link fence (~4’ tall). While there have been no issues with this set up, please note that if your dog has a history of severe aggression toward small animals and/or livestock they may not be a good fit for this environment. -I feed on a fixed schedule (no free-feeding) and separate dogs that I board during mealtimes to prevent opportunities for resource guarding -Your dog will have access to de-stuffed toys and tennis balls during their stay, but we do not allow access to chew toys/bones unless I am able to provide undivided supervision to each dog for safety reasons. If your dog likes to eat or guard toys please indicate this in your questionnaire prior to drop off so that toys can be picked up during their stay. -If your dog has a favored chew toy or stuffed animal, I can provide that to them during solo time separated from the rest of the dogs or while crated to prevent resource guarding and damage to your toys (my senior dogs prefer to de-fluff)

Information Emily B. would like to know about your pet

Prior to booking with me, I will send you a short new client questionnaire. This questionnaire serves two purposes: 1) There are questions about previous aggressive behaviors observed—Note that your honest answers are meant to provide me with information about what situations to avoid during their stay for safety purposes and will not negatively impact the outcome of booking so long as the situation can be effectively managed and prevented during their stay with us. 2) To provide valuable information for me to refer to during your pet’s stay. It is designed to make sure that your dog’s routine and care remains as stable and consistent as possible while you’re away.
