commented answer why are we not allowed inside sitter's house?

I fully concur. I do not own any dogs, but have M&G at my home and explain the primary reasons off the bat. I want the client to be as comfortable as possible leaving their furry family with me, as well as the dog being comfortable in my home when they return. If they opt out, but book I invite in.

commented answer why are we not allowed inside sitter's house?

I fully concur. I do not own any dogs, but oftentimes have M&G at my home and explain the primary reasons off the bat. I want the client to be as comfortable as possible leaving their furry family with me, as well as the dog being comfortable and recognizing my home when they return.

commented answer WHY IS MY RATE ON NEW REQUESTS DIFFERENT THAN WHAT I INDICATED?

I oftentimes find clients look to book and seek what I call an Extended pick up time. Which is anything over the 24 hour per day period, but less than an additional night. For example a 10am drop off and a 6pm pick up. I ask that they pay the same prorated amount as doggy daycare for the 6 hours.

commented question Is it okay for another sitter in the same area to copy part of my profile word for word and place it on her profile?

Shaun I am terribly sorry to hear that. On a good note they clearly were impressed by your profile! I think I would include how long you've been working successfully with Rover without incident towards the top of your profile where it will be seen. Hopefully that will help highlight your successes!

commented answer How to handle nonresponsive potential client

I concur. I have had similar experiences and while I do send one follow up message, only maybe 1 out of 5 times the client ends up having been busy and booking me. Other than that, as stated above I find the client has found another sitter or a friend or family member.

answered a question If the owner is out of state, are sitters stuck dealing with aggressive dogs with no alternative?

Whenever I will be entering a pupster's home to walk them, I assume their behavior during the meet 'n greet will go totally out the window when I arrive to "their territory" with no other "human pack member present." Excluding one older dog, who was accustomed to sitters walking him, they always have behaved exactly as described above, even a fully socialized Labrador retriever puppy that I've raised with his mommy ( a year old at that point) wouldn't let his walker in his house, when they moved to Baltimore.

I ALWAYS require at least 2 more visits before the owners leave to ensure the pup will comfortably let me into his home. The first time I ask the owner be in the living room and leave the door unlocked to reassure their pup it is okay, while I let myself in. That rarely goes without growles unless it is a well socialized dog, fully accustomed to various walkers entering his territory, as I said, I've only met one. So, after more reassurance from the owner they generally calm down and I take them for a quick walk around the block, positive connection making. The second time I ask the owner be upstairs or further from the door (assuming I wasn't maulled the first time) to see how the pup reacts to letting me in without their "pack member" reassuring them as I enter. If a third time is necessary, I return so as to ensure everything will go smoothly when I leave.

commented answer What does rover charge, percentage?

Actually they now get 20%, 15% from the host and 5% from the owner. This was just changed

answered a question What does rover charge, percentage?

Rover charges the sitter 15% out of each state, which is automatically deducted from the total paid to you. They also charge the client 5% as of about a month ago.
