commented answer Booked before accepting, normal?

More details. The people said they had 2 dogs. I only sit 1 dog as mentioned on my profile. Claimed to be getting kicked out of a local hotel, without saying why. That hotel does not allow dogs. They also booked me, below my day rate, while saying they would pay double my rate. It did not add up

asked a question Booked before accepting, normal?

I just got a request and booking all in a matter of seconds. I had not replied because I am home sick. Not able to walk a dog or care for one today.

But the long story short, someone sent me a request and when it came, it came with a booking confirmation. The person did not wait for me to reply. They simply sent a request and then booked it in a matter of seconds, when I had not replied, at all.

Of course I was able to say no afterwards and archive it. But this was a first for me and I found it very suspect. They also had 2 dogs and my profile makes it clear I only book 1 dog at a time. The 'members' just joined today.

Something feels off about this and I wonder if anyone else has seen this happen or reported it?

answered a question My mother dog was killed while being watched by a Rover Sitter?

I had a dog escape that I was sitting. Nearly got hit by a car, and I only take one dog at a time. She was a tiny thing and opened a big door that was not bolted. I have no idea how she pried it open. I saw her bolt out and took chase. I sincerely never thought a dog so small could open that door, as I have some difficulty with it. I am just thankful she is fine. It could have been like Derrick's Moms situation.

Like others, I suggest contacting Rover again and the AirBnB. If your Mom's dog was let out by guests at the other business, they hold some liability.

Sadly, like I found out, even a tiny little puppy can open a big door, when motivated.

asked a question What to do about dog that almost escaped?

Thankfully, the dog in question did not get away, but she did nearly get hit by a car. I was mortified. The owner had just pulled up, and the dog ran to her.

Here is what happened and some questions to follow. The owner texted she was on the way. I packed the dogs stuff and opened my front door and noticed my screen had nearly fallen. I pulled the door almost shut (it's a tight and heavy door), just not locked. I fixed the screen while standing on a chair. This very small dog, somehow managed to pull the door open and escape under my legs. I tried not moving too fast, but she kept going towards the traffic. Her owner pulled up as the dog started heading in to the street, and called to her. She ran straight over and my heart was racing.

I have only once had my own dog slip off his collar and that turned out without injury. But I don't want to go through that again. If anything had happened to that dog, I would be heart broken.

This was a puppy and a tiny breed dog. It was also a last minute booking from a new rover user with no bio on the dog. Should I just assume a tiny dog is that strong? The owner said she had escaped on her before, but did not mention if it was a habit. This was after the fact. Should I have something on my profile that asks to be notified if a dog is a runner?

The only good thing was, the dog took the path I had walked her on twice, which brought her full circle to where her owner was. I just don't want to go through that again and need to know how to prepare better, next time. I had taken off the rover tag only 1 minute prior to her escape, as the owner was almost here.

My heart is still racing.
