answered a question Does anyone have a homemade dog cookie recipe that they like best?

I found a hypoallergenic treat recipe on http://Dogville.com that all of the dogs who I've given it to loved it! I originally went looking for a good allergen-free recipe at Christmas time to make some for my brother's dogs, who are picky and allergic to a variety of things, they both loved them, as did my parents dogs, and my boyfriend's family dogs.

I print the recipe off and keep it with me when I go to meet and greets, Pet parent's love knowing that I made the treats! It's Super simple!

  • 1 Cup Rice Flour
  • ½ Cup Oatmeal
  • ½ Cup Almond Butter
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. Water

Preheat oven to 350˚.

In a bowl combine all ingredients except the water and mix until thoroughly combined. Add water a teaspoon at a time until a dough comes together.

Roll the dough out to ¼ inch thickness on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes.

Bake at 350˚ until slightly browned on the bottoms, about 12 minutes.

Remove and let cool. Store in an airtight container.

asked a question Denver Pit Bull Ban - Does anyone have any experience or tips for dealing with this?

Much of Denver and the surrounding neighborhoods have a ban on 'pit bull breeds", http://Denvergov.org states: "Under Denver’s Ordinance Sec. 8-55, pit bull breeds (American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, or Staffordshire Bull Terrier) are banned in the City and County of Denver. Pit bull type dogs are defined as any dog displaying the majority of physical traits of any one or more of the above breeds, or any dog exhibiting those distinguishing (physical) characteristics, which substantially conform to the standards established by American Kennel Club or United Kennel Club."

A friend who has been working at a Denver Doggie Daycare told me that their kennel does not accept any dog that resembles a pit bull unless the owner can provide papers proving it is a mix of something non-pit. She stated that there can be serious trouble in the event that the city were to a discover a pit bull without papers, and that the dog could be taken immediately and impounded, and the owner would be fined. Sounds very traumatic for all involved.

I have been contacted by two different owners who have dogs that are clearly pit bull mixes, but clearly NOT advertised as such. I was very nervous bringing the subject up with the first owner, but thankfully she was not offended when I did, and admitted that he must be a mix with some pit in him. The second owner is fostering the dog, and it is registered to a city where the breed is not banned. She was clearly worried that I would not be willing to walk her dog due to it's breed, or that I would try to get her and the dog in trouble.

That being said, both dogs are ANGELS. Possibly the best walkers I have out of the dogs that I have walked since joining rover. Neither are aggressive or overpowering in any way, incredibly friendly, sweet and mild mannered. While I understand that the ban was intended as a safety measure, I believe that breed can't possibly be the only factor in determining if a dog is dangerous or not. More often than not, you can spot a "bad" dog by it's owner and their behavior, not by the breed.

Anyways, I was wondering if there was anyone else who has experienced this kind of situation, in Denver or some other city with a breed ban? I would love any advice on how to broach the subject with the owner, I typically wait to feel them out and bring it up in person at a meet and greet, rather than during the initial messages for the request. but I'm open to suggestions!

Sorry for the novel!
