answered a question | why are we not allowed inside sitter's house? I invite all my clients to a meet and greet in which their dogs are invited to roam the home and property, I also have them pick up inside the house. You have every right to see where you pet will be sleeping, eating and spending time. I would ask for a tour of the house, and if they decline it may be time to consider another sitter. |
answered a question | Why do I have to use PayPal to get paid? Hi, I always request checks and haven't had a problem. It takes a week or so to receive. |
answered a question | How do you tell owners that you can't watch their dog again? I too stay positive, there is always something to like! I do address behavior issues with clients so we can work through them. They tend to appreciate this and it enhances the visits. (Lets face it owners don't always let you know their dogs dig, wet or chew up the pillows!) One poor little rescue I had to turn away because he was a biter and I do have children, but the owner was aware of the problem and wrote a glowing review, I tried to help her find a more appropriate sitter. |
answered a question | Discount for returning customer / owner? I have raised my rates to with no question from my clients. For the most part the rate I charge is less than other options and the services is EXCELLENT. Plus the rate hikes are usually nominal. My intro price was $25 and is now, after 10 months, at $35, which is comparable to other sitters in my area. |
answered a question | Should I start dog sitting before confirmation/payment has been made? Absolutely not! I gently let them know I won't be able to sit their dog until the Rover contract has been completed, which means payment through the site. You can do this on site as well but it is not fair to you or the dog owner (i.e.: insurance) to go forward without a confirmation. |
answered a question | guidelines for late pickup? For 8-10 hours I also use a pro-rated day care rate or the extend care feature. I discuss rates during the meet and greet but also find keeping in touch with photos lets me pinpoint exactly when clients will be picking up, this way we can address the overtime before it occurs. |
