answered a question | How do I politely ask a client if they would mind requesting more services as per what they asked me to do? If you haven't accepted the request yet, you can modify the price of the request in the same page (for web) that you respond to owner messages for the visit. Otherwise, let the owner know they need to send a new request for the drop in visits. DO NOT FEEL BAD that you need to tell the owner to pay you for the work you're doing. If you wouldn't work for free as a waitress/retail worker/any other hourly job, then you shouldn't be expected to work for free as a dogsitter either. You are providing an important service and deserve to be compensated as such :) |
answered a question | When do we start getting booked after our profile has been approved? I would recommend keeping your calendar updated. When I started, I let this go by the wayside. As a result, I had to turn down my first few key requests, which affects your place in search rankings a lot when you don't have any prior sittings to improve your booking scores. A year later I'm doing fine with a steady stream of new clients, but it took me four months to actually book my first visit. Also, if you have any off-Rover clients or friends with doggos, try asking them to book with you on Rover the next time they need dog-sitting. Good luck! |
answered a question | Do any of you charge different rates for puppies? I don't board but I do house sit, and I charge more for puppies. I've just noticed that when you have to let a dog out every 3 hours as opposed to 8 hours, it changes the pace of the sit a lot. Puppies are fantastic and fun, but require more attention. I think I currently charge $9 more for a puppy. |
answered a question | Do you usually charge them for one night trial? I would also never sit for free. In fact, I've started charging slightly higher for a new client if it's only a one-nighter, to cover the gas to the meet n greet. This may be a red flag regarding the owner. |
